About Me

Hi, I’m Julia and this is my profile page! Before we get to the technical stuff, let me tell you a bit about myself. I am an ambitious, trustworthy and responsible 15 year old who is interested in getting a job babysitting. I recently graduated from Branton Bilingual Junior High School and am going to William Aberhart in September. I speak English, French and Polish as well as a very small bit of ASL (American Sign Language), which my sister and I take interest in learning during the summer months. I enjoy physical activity and have participated in a variety of sports including circus aerials, gymnastics, karate, track and field, and tennis. My passions are aerial silks and medicine. I aspire to become a surgeon and study medicine after high school, which is a huge part of why I value learning and linguistics. I am open to new ideas and I respect all beliefs, religions and perspectives. In my spare time I enjoy reading, hiking, spending time outside or in parks, doing gymnastics, studying and being with my friends.
I really enjoy spending time with young children and am excited and hopeful for the opportunity to do this more!

Schedule and Availability

I feel that I am ready to take on the responsibility of babysitting and will try my absolute best to fulfill all your needs in terms of child care and provide a positive experience for your child. I have a very flexible schedule throughout the summer and am available every day of the week! Unfortunately my availability will decrease as school begins and I will also be unavailable early afternoon on Saturdays starting this fall. (More details may be given upon request). Although I will be more occupied when summer finishes, I will of course still be willing to babysit whenever my schedule permits! I am happy to work with children of any age but I have more experience with kids from ages 2-5.

Skills and Capabilities

I am happy to work with children of any age although I have more experience with kids from ages 2-5.
I am willing to take children swimming, to the park and other places they may enjoy, as long as it is possible and you, the parent or guardian, are comfortable with it as well!
I am capable of preparing simple meals, and ensuring the meals comply with any allergies or nutritional preferences your child may have, whether that means general preferences or day to day preferences.
I am capable of being in control of the child, rather than the other way around, while staying calm and not losing my patience with the child.
I am not very afraid of things such as blood or injury which will allow me to stay much calmer and deal with the situation at hand accordingly in the instance of something happening.
I am familiar with using public transit so I have that option in terms of transportation, if I need it.
I have resources such as friends and family to teach me any specific things I need to know for babysitting and child care such as changing diapers, preparing to babysit and cooking common meals I may not know yet.

Important Safety Note

You may have noticed that I have not yet done my babysitting course yet and I do not have CPR or first aid training. I understand that for some parents that may be a deal breaker, especially if you don’t know me personally, and I respect that. You want what’s best for your kids and you want them to be safe. I assure you that I am looking to do my training as soon as possible and will update my profile as soon as I get this certification!
Despite this lack of certification, I still have experience working with kids. I work with kids from ages 2-5 in my mom’s preschool in Harvest Hills (Learning by Playing Preschool). I help watch and play with them throughout the day and help guide them to follow the schedule and participate in a variety of activities.
I spend multiple hours a week with the kids along with 3 other teachers and am trusted to interact with kids without conflict and to ensure they are happy and have fun.
